How do I transfer video from a DVD camera to a Compaq laptop?

How do I transfer video from a DVD camera to a Compaq laptop? Laptop does not have a firewire input.?
Compaq laptop appears to have an S-video input and some other polygon shaped input with a bunch of little holes in it. Why doesn't this Compaq have a firewire input like my Mac? I thought all computers have that.

Not all computers have firewire, and that includes some Macs - but that's a separate issue! DVD camcorders don't transfer video via firewire or USB - you need to finalise the DVD in the camcorder and then read it in your PC. Once you've finalised the disk you can't write any more to it.
2 :
Install a PCI card, if your computer does not support firewire so you will be able to use the firewire cable. You can buy one at an electronics store. And purchase one data cable from compaq store only which can support this data transfer.

hi you just need a DVD ripper and then you can read the DVD easily here i recommend one it can help you convert any DVD to the format you like for more details you can goto http://www.aiseesoft.com/dvd-ripper.html hope it helps and there provide a free trail so just have a check first

What is the standard writing application for a Compaq laptop?

What is the standard writing application for a Compaq laptop?
I have a Compaq laptop, not sure which one, and I have been trying to find the writing application for a while now. If anyone has a tutorial on how to get to it, or something like that it would be gratefully accepted. I just don't know if I have to buy Office 2010 to write things.

Under all versions of Windows, you can find WordPad under the Start->Programs->Accessories menu. That's a low end word processor, without all the bells and whistles of MS Word. If you want MS Word, your best bet is to buy the Home & Student version of Office.

You could always use notepad or wordpad, those come built in to windows. If you don't want to buy a program, openoffice or googledocs are free. http://docs.google.com http://www.openoffice.org/

All versions of Windows include a very simple word processor called Wordpad. It is usually listed under the "Accessories" in the Start menu, or by typing "wordpad.exe" into the Run box on the start menu. You do not have to purchase a copy of Office 2010 unless you want to make Bill Gates richer. Go to http://openoffice.org and download the free clone of Office 2010 called Open Office. It has been around for several years and is able to open, edit, and create all the file formats used by Office 2010. A file created with Open Office can be saved in a format that is identical to the one used by Office 2010 and no one can tell the difference.

I have a Compaq laptop that I want to hook up to a Compaq monitor?

I have a Compaq laptop that I want to hook up to a Compaq monitor?
So I dropped my laptop, and broke the hinge off of it. It worked fine for a while, and all of a sudden when I turn it on it has gray stripes that won't go away. So I connected it up to another Compaq monitor, and the Windows Xp loading thing pops up a few times, and then the light on the monitor goes from green to orange, why is this?

I think you would be better off contacting Compaq support on the free 24/7 help line they will talk you through your problems and tell you what is what, click on the link below look for register, register your computer, then click on support and click on contact you will find the support line number, and give them a call
