how do I restore a Compaq to the factory settings and erase everything on the laptop?
I have a Compaq laptop and I know there is a way to restore the computer to the factory settings, erasing everything from the computer without a disk. I know that when you firts start the computer, you have to push one of the "f" buttons, but I am not sure which one. It restores it from a designated hard drive so no disk is needed. Any help?

As far as I know mine came with a backup disk. If yours didn't you could make one when you first buy it but it won't do you any good if you have had it for awhile unless of course it already came with it. If you don't have one take it to a computer repair shop to get it done professionally.

Go to HP Compaq's website. They've got manuals there under the support section that tell you which button to push when your computer starts up.

Depending on how old your computer is, the F10 does give you a menu for the recovery partition, look at your "splash" screen and you will be able to see the right key for the " recovery console"

watch it when it boots..watch carefully because it only there a second..you might get a f 10 or a f12...but watch and see if it does anyone one of those

How do I correct the screen resolution of a compaq laptop?
The screen resoution of my compaq presario laptop running on Windows Vista Home Premium has faded to the barest minimum but the tab indicates that there has not been any change to the settings. Please help.

Just change the settings in Control Panels, or whatever is in Vista. If that doesn't work, it could be a virus.

right click on your desktop then click personlise and then in windows xp go to settings tab and there will be like a little bar there and it sets your resolution but if u have windows vista do the same thing almost right click on your desktop click personlize then click display setting and use the bar there were it says low-------------High sort of thing and it will change the resolution.

In vista, click the start menu, go to control panel. Under Appearance and Personalization, click Adjust Screen Resolution. (If you are using the Classic View, click Personalization icon, then Display settings.) Under Resolution: you may adjust your screen resolution by using the slider bar from left to right. Then either click Apply or OK.

Bought a compaq laptop Norton Spyware keeps coming up does not let me in the internet what should i do?
Compaq 15.6" Presario CQ62-219WM Factory Refurbished Laptop PC with Intel Celeron 900 Processor and Windows 7 Home Premium, this protection scan comes on and gives false scanning and removal of software deleted. Went to the add and remove programs and removed anything that had Norton spy wear on it. Still don't work the program still pops up and it does not let me download another anti-spyware. please advise.

Windows 7 Compaq laptop
How to turn on webcam on Windows 7 Compaq laptop?
I have a internal camera on my windows 7 compaq laptop, and I can't find any way of turning it on, even after checking google and more. My computer came with CyberLink YouCam, but when I turn it on it says that the camera is not detected, and make sure it is on. I also tried looking under "My Computer", nothing there either. Any ideas anyone?

go-to device manager and check if imaging devices is listed there, if it isn't then you need to go-to your computers website and search for webcam drivers, if it is listed then right click it and update
