why is my compaq laptop going so slow?
I have a compaq laptop and it is going really slow. like when im not and on the internet the internet will sometimes it respond and sometime it wont respond but when I click and type things in sometimes it will hesitate,then it sometimes it will go slow!

You have got to much stuff on your computer, or youve got viruses x

back up the necessary files onto a portable hard drive, (the stuff you dont wana lose) format you hard drive do the long one not quick, this will wipe your hard drive clean, then boot up the computer with your os disk in and re install it, re install any drivers you need (make ure you make a backup of them if the installers are on your computer) then the software and games you want, lots of people will tell you to get this and do that but it takes a long time if you dont know wot you are doing and you risk doing more harm then good, this way it will deffinately work perfectly again and will take no longer then a day, as opposed to tryin loads of sollutions which "mite" fix it, they may not and it takin you 1 week + lol. also system mechanic that will allow you to de clutter and format memory(RAM), it also optimizes your internet connection (it does work i had ping of 500ms now get 100 - 200ms max) and malwarebytes is a good virus/trojan etc deleter incase you suffering from any of those in the future, also go to www.pingtest.net and you can see what your internet is giving you to all over the world, eg im in yorkshire england, my ping to california usa is 198ms, tht is how long it takes to send and receive a packet of information 8bytes i think

Why does my Compaq laptop run slow since I changed the battery?
My Evo N410c had a weak battery so I ordered a new third party battery off the net. The new battery looks exactly like the old one including P/N and charges well but now my laptop runs really slowly when on battery power only. Is this a Compaq trick to stop you from using third party options and if so is there a solution?

You do really need to be using the same battery. Compaq designed the lappy and the battery for it. When they build the battery they have their laptop there to test against. I view it to like buying Duracell or a cheap version. Both do the job but Duracell are better for high powered stuff

I would strongly suggest you to use branded batteries, mainly of the same brand as the laptop. Using a different battery can damage your notebook, as now it is probably being run at a lower power than it should be. Send back the battery you have bought and ask your money back.

Compaq sold the company & times up on there old products good luck findind up-dates lol

nothing to do with the battery. please reinstall your Os. and try defragmenting your hard drive.

How do I make the digital card reader on my compaq laptop work?
It used to work, and done some messing around with the system to try and make it run faster, now digital card reader doesn't work. any suggestions?

When the card reader is plugged in to your computer does it show up in "My Computer"? If not, have you changed anything about the way your other USB devices are plugged in? I have noticed that my card reader does not work when my scanner is plugged in to the same USB hub. Unplug the scanner and the card reader works fine. Don't know why ... but it happens. Could this be what's happening to your system? Hope this helps.
