How can I get my Compaq laptop to recognize my mp3 player?
My mp3 player worked fine on my laptop. I was able to download music and put it on my device with no problem, it's recently stopped working though. The problem is not the cord because i've plugged in other devices to it and it works fine. When i plug in the mp3 it will charge but nothing pops up on my laptop. I have a Compaq laptop so if anyone is familiar with it and its settings plz help me!

Try to open the player's content manually: My computer ---> portable drive / device ---> add and delete files from it like a normal directory. (P.S - try a different usb port on your computer).

It could be because of windows registry problems. Download C-Cleaner and run the registry repair. You will get everything right in no time. If that does not work, maybe it is your Windows that is damaged, it happens after some months/years of usage, even just for typing documents.

Laptops get "laggy" if you don't clean out the temp files once in a while, defrag regularly, overload the memory, or fill the harddrive to more than 90% of capacity. Perhaps your friend's opinion is just that; an opinion rather than a fact. Ask someone with more knowledge of Compaq Laptops. They can be quite good if properly taken care of. Any laptop will get "laggy" if it is abused.

ok im just making a point here all labtops dont suck if u dont take care of them and do the proper things to them. ok compaq labtops are pretty good and yes they can offer more memory and other things u want to get with it. because i have a toshiba labtop and im taking care of it and its very fast. i also have a hp labtop and its great also. and my compaq desktop i dont take care of it sucks. so after time if u dont take care of it its going to suck over time.

Compaq is taken over by HP now... But they still run a series of low-mid priced laptops named as hp-compaq Check the hp website.

YUP Bro!
