Can I open my Compaq laptop with out effecting my support?
My laptop has conked out but someone I am with knows they can fix it. I'm in the UK and bought it from PC World and have Techguys support. Do you know if I can open the back of the laptop and it won't effect my support or warranty with them.

If your laptop is opened/serviced by anyone other than Authorized Compaq/HP technicians, it will void the warranty. end of line

You cant really judge a computer by its make, instead judge what parts are in it. If u list the speccs i can tell you more about it.

Depends on the specs .... there isn't a lot of difference in the Quality of the two companies products ... the price range though will determine the type of "extras" you get such as added features to screen quality and overlay

Dell laptops>compaq but dells service is horrible

Well, i had a compaq laptop.. And, yeah it's great but.. It depends on what kind of laptop you buy. Dell is better than compaq, i have read in articles. But, ask the guy who's in the computer store on which is better, he should give you a honest answer/

Regardless of "What's inside", there's the question of reliability. Dell has the worst reputation in the industry for customer no-service and computers that fail. The Compaq is made by H/P which has one of the best reputations for customer service. All things equal I'll take the compaq.

compaq is the best because i got a compaq hp presario 2500 the ram is 512mb the video card is ati radeon igp 345m and it is pentium 4 3.60ghz the fastst laptop can play alot of games u shoud choose compaq

How do i reset my compaq laptop?
My laptop is running really slow and i just want to know if resetting the whole thing would help and how to do it

Yeah, it will. If it's slow also try uninstalling some programs you don't need from Control Panel. That always helps. If it's a problem like an everyday problem spending a few hundred dollars wouldn't hurt.

Considering 95% of the time a slow computer problem is created, it's by the user who hasn't a clue how to properly use and maintain it, it will surely run faster until they infect the crap out of it again and load all the BS they think they need running in the background. As for your question, since you didn't have sense enough to give us the model number, read the manual.

You can delete unused programs Delete any files you dont need. Defrag your HDD System restore Extreme mode: boot into your recovery partition(if you have one, or Operationg system CD) and re-install windows

How can i restore my compaq laptop back to its factory settings?
how can i restore my compaq laptop back to its factory settings?
my laptop has so much stuff going wrong with it. i don't have much music or pictures, so losing those won't be a problem. i've had my computer erased before, i just need to know how to do it again. i don't have any CD's or recovery disks or anything. just need help. thanks!

The best and cheapest way is to use a set of recovery disc made for the lap top, you can order a set from http://www.compaq.com/cpq-country/cpq_support.html by the model and serial number to install a new original operating system and use the original key code on the sticker on bottom of your lap top. Then you will not have to pay a repair center to do it for you for a $100.00 or more. If it is a newer lap top running Vista or Windows 7 you can use the built in system recovery, try holding down the Fn key while pressing F10, F11 or F12 at start up. This varies with makes and models to enter recovery partition. Check the user guide for your lap top.
