How can i download drivers for my Compaq laptop without accesing the internet?
i put a clean version of xp on my laptop and my internet doent work and my sound and picture are pretty crappy so i know what i need to do i just dont know if i need to buy a driver disc or copy the drivers off another computer. i need help.

Using a different computer, go to compaq's website and download the drivers and save them onto a cd or USB stick.

You can't download anything without internet access! Get a friend to download and copy/burn to removable media, disk/flash drive.

What do you mean that your internet won't work?

You can go to your local library to use their computer to download needed drivers.

How do u prevent lag on a compaq laptop when playing single player or multiplayer games?
Today i downloaded a demo for call of duty 4 and it lags really really bad and it freezes.i downloaded cross fire today too and it really lagging really bad and im not adminstor on this laptop.but if i was on the adminstor account would i have lag? it says i use defualt 2 (linksys) local internet connection.please answer

Even if your an administrator, I think it would still lag. Better upgrade your RAM. Or you could clean out the unnecessary files in your computer.

Which is best lenovo thinkpad or a compaq laptop?
I'll be a college student this fall and i was wanting to buy a laptop, but i don't know which is best, the lenovo thinkpad or the compaq laptop

If it were me, I'd go with the Lenovo for sure.

uhm.. i sell lenovo, dell, and HP to corporate and enterprise companies everyday... i can tell 100% that lenovo is going down the drain in quality.. they have cut back so much this year... HP or dell is prefered

Compaq is aimed at a cheaper price range ($400+) which means cheaper quality parts (computer breaks easily, more often and usually costs more to repair in the end). Lenovo seems to be more of a business line of notebooks, from what I've come across anyway. HP has some really nice laptops starting out from $500-$600. They are usually very good quality - just don't expect help from their tech support.

How do I identify the serial number of a HP Compaq laptop battery?
I want to buy a new battery for my laptop. My dad said I should get the serial number and give it to him. But there are so many numbers on the battery, which is the serial number? And if it is not the serial number that I need in order to purchase a new battery what am I to look for and give to my dad?

you don't need the serial number. You just need the laptops model # if you post it I'll provide a link to good price replacement battery :) the model number can be found underneath the laptop
