What is not possible to install it! C700 required drivers for you and I are ready. HP Compaq Presario C700 Drivers Download

Your hard drive is formatted the wrong way. I don't know which but, your hard drive needs to be NTFS or FAT. I would use the fdisk tool to format your hd.

It sounds like you might need to make a partition before attempting to install XP. There must be hundreds of web sites offering tips on how to do this.

Hi, I guess this is an issue with SATA Hard disk on your computer,Unfortunately XP cant detect the Hard disk and wont install the drivers automatically from the OS.You need to install SATA drivers from a Floppy drive and then proceed with XP installation, which i guess is tough as you maynot have a floppy driver.Maybe better you give back the product and get a replacement or check with HP if they got any other suggestions. You can run that memory in most laptops, as long as its frequency fits the mainboards freq.
2 :
If motherboad has the slot available for your memory type. Yes, Off course. you can put it.

Ram is in sticks,, not chips ~
2 :
If they're the same type yes, RAM comes in PC, DDR, DDR2, and now DDR3 types. PC ram is outdated and you're probably not dealing with PC ram, DDR and DDR2 are fairly common, DDR is getting old now but DDR2 is popular, and DDR3 is brand new. Probably the easiest way to tell is just to try it. Take the stick of ram out of the Compaq and try putting it in the Dell. If it fits, chances are it works (they intentionally change the slot shape/size each time they make a new type of RAM so that the wrong RAM physically won't fit). As far as brand goes, it doesn't matter, Compaq doesn't make RAM, neither does Dell, they both buy it from other companies that make RAM.
3 :
Check with crucial advisor site. They will tell you correct types for both. If they are the same you can do it.
4 :
The 600m uses DDR PC-2700 RAM and the f700 uses DDR2 PC5300 RAM. The pins on the ran modules don't match up. It would most likely fry your motherboard if you somehow were able to get it to fit in the slot.

what operating system is it running and what version of that operating system? possibly if its that old, i'm thinking its a 16 bit OS and an addressing limitation issue. also you may have not fully installed the module, if you had another module in there it would just continue to boot without posting. but since the new one isn't seated properly you wouldn't be able to use it

It might help if you would actually post the model number of that laptop. It likely doesn't support high-density RAM or you just have a bad stick.
