How do i make my compaq laptop run cooler?

How do i make my compaq laptop run cooler?
I have a compaq laptop and it works awesome never had anything better! When i go on it one side is hot and the other side is cool. The laptop gets hot and so does the counter and it bothers me a lot. I have a cooling pad but it bothers me to much and it just circulates the hot air back into the laptop. Is there a program to cool my laptop? please don't have an answer saying i need to buy a new cooling pad or i can't help just deal with it. Please help me!

Maybe you need to check if you're running the latest Bios for your laptop model... An upgrade may help speed up the CPU fan if its a factory fault. Something similar happened with DV6000 series running AMD processors and the solution was a BIOS upgrade.

no something is working over time. Contact HP for support, if still under warranty it needs to go in for repairs. A laptop cooling pad can work, however, if the noise bothers you, there is one more thing. Tilt your laptop. Place something that won't scorch, to allow air to flow underneath it. barring that, contact HP-Compaq support by email, technical support after you buy. its free. They'll walk you through some troubleshooting and if its still under warranty, they'll send you a box and shipping label to send it in for repairs, or take it to a local HP authorized repair I had that problem once and it required me to send it in for repairs. good luck rhyanna

if it is possible, underclocking the proccessor will help the computer run cooler. However many laptops dont support under/overclocking
