Why is my 1 year old compaq laptop battery life short?
Without plugging the charger, my laptop just runs about 11-20 minutes even though it has a 4-cell lithium battery. What can I do to prolong the life of the battery? How long should I charge it?

Can anyone please send me a link to where i can purchase the imovio ikit? This is common. The life of a li-ion battery is 300-500 recharging times. The charging time will be shorter and shorter as the time goes by. And also the cells is an element of it. If you want to buy a 6-cell battery, please go to http://www.everbatt.com, there are many batteries.

What? That is really surprising! But i don't think you need a new battery. There are two things: You are using you laptop very often, solely relying on your battery. The battery has probably completed its charge-discharge cyle. On the otehr hand, you are probably using you battery badly. You can go to http://www.laptopbatterylife.net/ and get some pretty good advice on how to extend your laptop battery life.

Dear, The answer is very simple, as in Ur laptop battery has gone weak, it happens to ALL LAPTOP BATTERY, and with a simple reason that it wasn't maintained well. Normal Battery life is 2 or 3 hours approx on 4 cell, using win xp and applications like internet explorer and word xp powerpoint on smaller laptops. Laptop batteries if properly maintained, last their quality for 2.6 years or higher How to Maintain it? ? 1) Every Once a Week Drain the Battery FULLY > then Charge it Fully for 1 - 2 hours. (this battery exercise will ensure that all cells are utilized and in function in healthy state) 2) Give ventilation to the Laptops Core components, so the heat might not affect the battery 3) When u want to use the laptop for Long Periods like more than 4 hours on power, then Remove its Battery and use it like a PC on direct power. (not recommended if u have power fluctuations) (If Ur battery is swelled or leaky, better consult a expertise or discard the same as fast as possible)
