i try to start my compaq laptop but two Q's just come up?
when i turn on my laptop, a capital Q and a small q just come up on the screen, and i can't do anything. does anybody know how to solve this problem?

What is the model number and operating system ? Press F8 at start up to enter start options, choose safe mode with networking, back up any thing of importance to CD's or external hard drive. Use the built in system recovery partition or a set of recovery disc and do a system repair or re install.
